We are seeking volunteer field assistants between early October and late February to support monitoring activities. We are studying the biology; ecology; conservation and in some case the migrations of different bird species like American Kestrel; Blue-crowned Parakeet; Vermilion Flycatcher; Fork-tailed Flycatcher and other passerines and raptors.
Training on searching and monitoring nests will be provided. Volunteer duties include participating in searches; climbing trees to check nest; bird censuses; trapping and banding efforts; take birds sampling (blood; morfometric measures; ectoparasites collect; etc); re-sighting marked birds; take pictures and videos; assisting with collect of data from habitat variables; helping maintain field equipment. The typical day will start in the first hours (very early) in the morning; we take a break for the lunch and a short nap; and after continue the field work until sunset.

Physically fit, enthusiastic, young biologists, vets, bird breeders, naturalists, students of the natural sciences, veterinary medicine, conservation, etc. basically anyone with experience working with birds and working in the field or a deep desire to learn these skills. Applicants must be self-disciplined, responsible, patient, and able to get along well with others in remote field setting. Volunteers contribute U$S70 per week to help cover the cost of accommodation and food. We cover the cost of field insurance.
