We are a non-profit; non-governmental organisation whose mission is to prevent cruelty and replace it with kindness to all animals. We seek to achieve our goals by providing medical care and shelter to animals in need and subsidising veterinary care to low income families. This is accomplished through the operation of the island’s only non-profit veterinary clinic; conducting ongoing spay/neuter and vaccination campaigns; animal adoption and public education programs. Our vision is to build a permanent animal shelter/education centre in Ambergris Caye; Belize and continue working toward a long term solution to end animal abuse; neglect and overpopulation.
We are looking for volunteers to help us improve the general health and well being of domestic and wild animals; as well as the humans of the island.
Volunteer positions:
Veterinarians – use your knowledge and skills as a veterinarian to help those most in need.
Dog Walker – walk the dogs for exercise; provide enrichment using appropriate equipment and help teach the dog’s basic obedience.
Socializing our cats – snuggle; purr; and play wit the cats.
Special Event Support – help with set-up; clean-up; and/or scheduled assignments to make our events a success.
Volunteers can also get involved in other work such as adoption desk support/adoption program; animal behaviour/training; animal photography; computer work/data entry; flyer/poster distribution; fundraising; graphic design; grooming; or use their special skills.
