Non-Profit Tours & Trekking

Condortrekkers

About the Program

We offer non-profit tours and trekking and use the proceeds to support children and communities living in poverty. Our organisation was established by volunteers who wanted to make a difference in the lives of Bolivians who were suffering from economic hardship.

We employ locals as part of our method of assisting the local economy; but it would not have been possible without the efforts of dedicated; local and foreign volunteers. We are always looking for more volunteers to complement our crew and all are welcome. Duties involve general promotion; preparing for and leading tours and treks and also participation in activities with children. Working hours are very flexible and enthusiasm essential. Spanish skills are an obvious advantage and there are several Spanish schools nearby to help you improve your level. First aid skills would also be very beneficial and advisable to attain before arrival.

Treks range from 1 to 5 days and allow you to view ancient rock paintings; towering waterfalls and dramatic geological formations. Visit and stay in indigenous communities where you can find beautiful; locally made artefacts. Swim in mountain streams and walk along trails that pre-date the Inca civilisation. Treks are led by a combination of experienced local guides and international volunteers to ensure that safety and enjoyment remain our highest priorities. Our treks are not too challenging or physically demanding although we can also arrange more demanding; private tours when possible.

Volunteers also help by teaching our guides English which also allows you to practice all that Spanish you’ve been learning.

We are an ethically responsible; ecotourism project. Whenever possible; we buy local produce to support the local communities. We provide quality guides; food (vegetarian/vegan friendly); transport and equipment to ensure every trek is a truly memorable; experience of a lifetime.

We can organize affordable Spanish lessons for volunteers if interested (approx. US$4 per hour).

Enthusiasm is essential. A reasonable level of Spanish is desirable. First aid training is strongly suggested; as volunteers will share some of the responsibility of making sure our clients are safe on the treks.

There is no fee to volunteer with us. Volunteers pay for their first trek and that is refundable after working 2 months. As all funds are directed to social projects; we are unable to provide accommodation or living expenses. Thus; volunteers are responsible for themselves. Accommodation during the treks includes a mix of camping and staying with local families. You’ll also have the opportunity to camp out under the stars; sit around the fire and enjoy nature; away from city lights.
