Reviews
"I interned in person here for a 6-month period, from September 2018 to February 2019, and it has been a life changing experience. During my internship, I had the chance to balance and combine practical work with the experience of living the Brazilian culture, learning from the local community, and enjoying incredible landscapes. Jaci, the founder, is a great person who leads by example and cares about pople and the plantet. The project not only encourages environmental activism and social development in Itacaré but also gives volunteers and interns the possibility to grow personally and professionally. It is a great opportunity for open, flexible,, and optimistic people. I have rejoined the organization virtually, during the pandemic, and I have witnessed its resilience capacity to keep promoting social and environmental justice in an ever-changing scenario. Doubtlessly, I plan to go back and collaborate again with the project in Itacaré."- Alondra Perez Guerrero
"My experience spent in Brazil over a six week period working at ETIV Do Brasil was one of the best experiences of my life. Growing up I was fortunate enough to experience life with privilege due to the hard work of my parents. I have had an amazingly easy life compared to most and I believe that giving back when you have so much is crucial because it restructures the world we live in. ETIV allows you to do this in the best way. My friend and I worked as environmental conservation teachers and taught children how to conserve the environment. It was a beautiful experience, the children we worked with are so amazing coming to class each day with the brightest smiles on their faces making it even better. We also did handiwork around the NGO which was good because we wanted to contribute to the formation of ETIV. The company is great, the directors Jaci and Rachel are superb. They are always there to assist and are people with great hearts and motives. ETIV also allows you to experience the amazing activities that Itacare has to offer. We went white water rafting, hiking, visited numerous breathtaking beaches and learned to surf! It was just fantastic! The people in the town are friendly and welcoming and so kind. I would recommend this to anybody anywhere in the world. You will gain so much humility and learn a lot about yourself, at least I did."- William Themba Daniels
"I have been volunteering with ETIV for a month now, working in both Marketing & Recruitment and the English Programme. The team I'm surrounded by are so diverse, motivated and driven and we are really seeing an impact with our work in the community here. Everyone comes with their own sets of skills and areas of expertise and you have the opportunity to play to your strengths. With ETIV you really have the freedom to put your ideas into action with any support and guidance there if you may need. The kids are incredible and so eager to learn. Itacari is also incredibly beautiful and there is something for everyone. It's an adventure from start to finish and it's certainly true that you get out what you put in!"- Anna Hegarty
"My volunteer experience with ETIV do Brasil was truly a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. I volunteered with ETIV in Itacare, Bahia, Brasil from May 2018 to August 2018 and would have stayed even longer if I could! Itacare is a tropical paradise and the community is very welcoming. The kids are adorable and there is a positive energy all around. Jaci, ETIV do Brasil's director, is an amazing person and you can truly feel her love and passion for what she is doing. I would recommend volunteering with ETIV do Brasil to anyone looking for a positive, fun, and fulfilling volunteer experience in a beautiful setting."- Julie Da Silva
"My experience has been incredible. The volunteers all bring such a special light and passion to the program in their own way. The children of Itacare and neighborhood of Passagem are very friendly and open to learn. Its really nice that volunteers get a lot of freedom to initiate their own projects, and that also teaches you a lot about responsibility and commitment. The community here is very united and everyone is aware of each other's projects. In terms of marketing work, the schedule is very flexible and the variety of tasks and freedom for new projects is nice, but requires organized and dedicated volunteers and interns. Other volunteers are very helpful when it comes to pictures, blogs, and filming classes. Sometimes organization and administration can get blurry since this is a small NGO, but working through this is part of learning to solve different kinds of issues. Itacare is beautiful! The local people are very friendly, there is a very vivid night life, and much to do especially for those looking for adventure. The project is what you make it!"- Ana Hernandez Quiros
"It has been an amazing experience! I've been here for two and a half months, but sadly my time is almost over, because I only applied for a 3 month program. This is a young NGO whose flexibility gives you the opportunity to use your personal strengths combined with supervision and a lot of support. This NGO encourages an entrepreneur mindset and welcomes fresh minds. I've been learning so much as the Marketing Coordinator and as a volunteer for the English Program, helping the teachers during the classes and with the planning. I enjoyed my time in the field with the kids, learning from them and the community. I arrived 10 weeks ago speaking zero Portuguese and now I'm able to speak with people here and communicate in an effective way. Even though my Spanish background helped, I strongly suggest taking the Portuguese Classes to speed up the process. Speaking the language definitely helps you to bond better with the community and make the most of your experience. Volunteer experiences alone are gratifying, however, volunteering here also allows you to live in a beautiful surfing town in Bahia, Brazil, which makes the experience last forever."- Eva Melissa Astudillo
