Regeneration & Sustainable Tourism

Ecovila El Nagual

About the Program

Sustainable tourism can be the mechanism to create a new reality; come and be a part of this project! It is at its early stage and you can help in many ways. This is a twofold project focusing on conservation/reforestation and local population economic sustainability. Focusing on regenerating the forest by collecting endemic seeds; producing seedlings and planting endemic fruit trees (more than 30 species); so that wildlife can be attracted; and be a help to propagate more seeds. By doing so springs will also be recovered. Personal projects in sync with our objectives are encouraged and welcomed. The sustainable tourism generated by establishing a 100 km trail linking 4 districts and formalising an alliance with small land owners and their families; who will besides being supporters of trekkers by offering shelter and locally grown certified organic food will also develop and market endemic fruit products; assuring their financial sustainability and helping with conservation and reforestation. One of the most important aspects of this project is to establish an enduring relationship between the forest seasonal fruit and the local population which will understand the value of conserving the forest if not for its natural intrinsic value but for its resources that can be very profitable. These endemic species can be ephemeral and difficult to transport; hence the need to attract consumers to the area or to develop frozen products.

Single or double accommodation; tours and airport transportation is available at extra cost.
