We are a family run ranch where we offer trail rides; half to 11 days since 1997. We accept volunteers for two different positions: taking care of the horses and guiding rides/tours and taking care of horses; helping on the farm and ranch.
Besides our Chilean staff of 3 guides we work with international helpers; one to four at a time. Their job is all the work around the rides; getting the horses from their paddocks; preparing the horses; as well as all kind of work around our guests; as preparing and serving breakfast; cleaning cabins and so on. As we are a rather small company there is little specialization; everyone; independent his or her position should be able to help out with everything when necessary.
To work on multi-days rides it’s essential that you speak some Spanish so you can communicate with our arriero guides. As on the multi-day rides you would be responsible for the cooking you must have basic knowledge of handling food.
Because of the character of the work and the sometimes rough climate in southern Chile it is essential that you are outdoor proofed and you should not mind getting wet.
Our volunteers should be flexible with the working schedules; the regular working hours are 8 hours per day; 6 days a week. We try to stick to this schedule which is not always possible; for example if you’re on a 4 day ride; one is attending the guest basically 24 hours a day. In times of high season a working day may be longer; and it is never a 9 to 5 job.

6 to 12 weeks or 12 weeks or longer (dependent on volunteer position)
Adults of both sexes 18+ (female volunteers are preferred).
Be able to work independently and handle large responsibilities; have good social skills and like dealing with our international guests; have experience with horses; speak fluent English and at least some Spanish; love to be outside; even in bad weather.
