Teach English in Chile

Our program; sponsored by the Chilean Ministry of Education and the United Nations Development Programme-Chile; works to improve English-language education throughout the Chilean public school system by providing teacher training; instructional materials; language competitions; English immersion camps; and study abroad scholarships for university students. We are looking for highly motivated; fluent English speakers to be volunteer English teachers in Chilean public schools! Volunteers teach classes focused on listening and speaking skills. Volunteers are placed throughout Chile; and work with students ranging from 5th grade (10-11 years old) to 12th grade (17-18 years old).

The volunteer’s main responsibilities are:

• Motivate students to learn English
• Help students improve their speaking and listening skills
• Share own culture with students; thus broadening their worldview
• Spend 24 hours a week in the classroom; and another 11 hours each week leading extracurricular activities and lesson planning. Each volunteer has the flexibility to determine what specific extracurricular activity they’d like to lead with their students
• Work independently under the supervision of Chilean head teachers; teaching 45 minute classes with groups of 20-25 students
• Participate in English Camps; Debates; Public Speaking and Spelling Bee competitions; and other initiatives of the Program.

No experience is necessary! All training is provided during orientation in Santiago. In 2020; we are offering 4 Volunteer Services; three 4-month services and one 7-month service (includes two weeks of vacation!). Visit our website for more information!
