We are looking for a volunteer field assistant from mid-March to mid-April 2020 for work on the breeding biology of Nazca Boobies on the Galapagos Islands.
The field assistant will join a group totalling four continuing a 36-year study of this species.
The majority of the work will be identifying banded parents at nests; handling and banding large nestlings and adults; and marking nests; 7-10 hrs per day of fascinating work in an incredible place. The group will live in tents and a primitive field camp on this uninhabited island; a day’s boat ride from the nearest civilization. A minor amount of the work will be band resights of waved albatrosses.

Patience (you may be sitting at one nest for days on end toward the end of the trip!), physical fitness, tolerance of heat and sun, cheerful can-do attitude, attention to detail. Previous field experience required. Spanish desirable but not required.
