Fundraising Assistant And Strategic Partnerships Within Education Guatemala
Description
Our team is looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual with a passion for education and collaboration to join us in Guatemala, helping our community school and library get access to available funding and keep building partnerships to continue with our inspirational work.
La Puerta Abierta is a vibrant learning center for students of all ages with a focus on meaningful education and literacy outreach in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. We are a force in leading alternative education in rural Guatemala where traditionally educational philosophies have been rooted in conventional teaching techniques. La Puerta Abierta is a non-conventional school that provides educators, students, and families with the opportunity to teach and learn in a progressive and nurturing ambiance. We follow a creative curriculum and believe in cultivating our teachers as valued agents of change. We offer a dignified and innovative education based on respect and acceptance for all of our students, where we explore creativity, promote leadership and critical thinking through literacy, celebrate culture and diversity, enjoy and work within nature, and have an impactful socioemotional approach across our curriculum. Our mission is to empower children to use creativity, critical thinking, and literacy to become innovative problem solvers. Through the use of guided literature exploration, our students develop skills to analyse, reason and relate books to their own lives preparing them to become future agents of change and leaders within our community. We value innovation, creativity, critical thinking, literacy, diversity, and life-long learning.
