Primate and Wildlife Conservation

Kawsay Biological Station

About the Program

We are working in a conservation concession area of approximately 200ha designated for conservation by the Peruvian government. The concession is located in the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve; bordering the Madre de Dios River. We are located at 1 hour by boat of the city Puerto Maldonado; Peru. We make research and conservation available for everyone. Dont be afraid of helping in a biological station; of course we work very seriously but we believe that everyone can contribute in a certain way. Come and discover this beautiful forest and the working in the field. Volunteers will help with the main projects and activities. Activities include maintaining the conservation area; wildlife monitoring (e.g. behavioural studies; camera trapping; mammal transects; pitfall traps; phenology study); habitat evaluation (vegetation plots); assisting researchers and other activities to maintain the station. Our station offers you comfortable facilities and the forest at your disposal to carry out your activity. Interns and Researchers are people who can work independently and carry out their own activities during the time they need for their research or internship. Further we can provide some materials; depending what you need.
