Volunteering Abroad Shouldn't Cost the Earth

Wildlife Rescue Centre Peru

As a volunteer, you will be involved in many hands-on activities related to the daily care of animals. This involves preparing food, feeding animals, cleaning cages, assisting with veterinary treatment, and meeting any special care needs. For example, one of your responsibilities could be to give milk to orphaned baby monkeys. You can also get involved in other activities such as creating enrichment for the animals, constructing enclosures, reforestation, planting trees, general repair and maintenance, and administration.

Best experience of my life
"I could write pages and pages about this amazing organization. I guess it already says a lot, that I've been there for three months, just to go back a year later for another three months. And: I'm just waiting to go back again. Seriously, if you're considering to come here or even just to donate, I definitely can't recommend enough to do it. You'll have an amazing time with great people from all over the world, with a wonderful manager family, in the most beautiful setting (no place in the world is as breathtaking as a tropical rainforest) and of course, most importantly: with so many awesome animals! And you will closely work with them, even without any experience! Depending on what you are interested in, you always have the possibility to work in certain areas, other than with the animals, with maintenance for example, with cooking, with planting trees or with computer work. You just learn so much about yourself, about other cultures, about nature. It is indeed hard work, but if you are ready to put some effort in, to live rather simply (which I honestly also really liked about it) then it'll be so rewarding, because you're actually working for the best cause. If you're interested in the project, go to their website or instagram, look at their photos and videos and updates, ask them if you have any questions, they're so nice and helpful and don't be afraid of it being too adventurous! It is definitely worth it :) So in conclusion: I absolutely loved it. Can't recommend it enough. A completely deserved 5 out of 5 ranking!"- Carlotta Nuß
Best experience
"Going to this project is definitely one of the best things I have ever done in my life. It is a great organization where the owners do anything they possibly can to give the animals the best life they can have. It was great to work together with them and the other volunteers to reach this goal. Animals always go first, but also the volunteers are very important and they are taken well care off, everything is organized so well. In the 3 months I stayed there I learned a lot, got to know the animals very well and made friends from all over the world. I will definitely go back and can recommend it to everybody! Join the facebook group if you want to read more about experiences of old volunteers or if you have another question :)"- Puck Van Den Bosch
